Artificial intelligence is beginning to shape science, medicine, discovery, and decision-making.

That future needs more than speed.

It needs scrutiny, accountability, and independent scientific judgment.

Speed Is Not Enough

Faster systems do not automatically produce better reasoning.

In biology, medicine, and translational science, confident wrongness can scale quickly. A model may sound fluent. A mechanism may sound plausible. A claim may sound promising.

But the question remains:

Does the evidence hold?

Markets Do Not Validate Truth

Markets can reward speed, confidence, scale, and persuasion.

They do not always reward evidence quality, reproducibility, mechanism, or public harm prevention.

Scientific claims need more than market excitement.

They need scrutiny.

AI Distrust Is Not Irrational

Distrust of artificial intelligence is not backward. 

It is often historical intelligence.

Many communities know what happens when powerful systems are built without them, tested on them, used against them, or explained to them after decisions have already been made.

The answer is not blind trust.

The answer is participation, evaluation, governance, and authority.

Black People Must Be at the Table

Black people should not only be users of AI systems, subjects of datasets, or communities affected by decisions made elsewhere.

We must also be builders, validators, critics, scientists, founders, decision-makers, and authorities.

We need to be asking the questions, testing the systems, challenging the claims, examining the evidence, and shaping what comes next.

Access Without Dilution

Inclusion without rigor is symbolism.

Rigor without access is gatekeeping.

The BBSC stands for both.

Access matters. Rigor matters. Evidence matters.

The work is not to lower the standard.

The work is to open the door without compromising it.
